Acer are a great make – i've had one for 2 years and in that time had no issues i've even upgraded the processor – your sales associate is correct, but on a much broader level, most laptop manufacuters dont make there own components so many of them use the same.

I agree with the first poster, the viewsonic is slightly smaller, but it has more than three times the contrast ratio (1000:1 static, 3000:1dynamic where the acer is only 800:1) which will make for blacker blacks and whiter whites. The 2ms response rate on the viewsonic means sharper motion (no ghosting or halos around moving images, this is especially important for gamers). Finally even though the Acer is a bit larger they both list the same resolution of 1680 x 1050, this means that while the screen on the Acer is bigger, so are the pixels, so you're not getting any more viewable area.
The Viewsonic looks like a better screen. On a personal note I have a Viewsonic 22" and an Acer 22" working side-by-side as an expanded desktop and the Viewsonic has better colour reponse.
From my research the zoom is a feature of the mousepad you are using. You could look at control panel or any utilities that came with the acer to adjust the sensitivity or turn it off.
The alternative would be to use a USB mouse.
I haven't been able to find details on how to change the settings there. But it does appear to be a common complaint.
Even the Acer site has nothing I can find.
20" rims look stupid and are only usefull on tires 44" or bigger.

I am not sure you have an issue. Are the images squashed? Also you forgot to include a model number for you TV, DVD player and what you were watching and how you have it hooked up.
